Maui Wowi Hawaiian Coffees and Smoothies will be making its Irish debut in Dublin after appointing Paul Hickey as its Master Franchise Owner.

“I am both delighted and honoured at becoming the first Maui Wowi Master Franchise Owner in Europe,” said Hickey. “I decided it was time to take control of my own destiny and embarked upon a journey of discovery within the franchising sector.”

After researching numerous franchise options, Hickey felt that the uplifting spirit, vibrant colours and the dual Coffee and Smoothies concept of Maui Wowi Hawaiian would be quickly accepted in Dublin. In a tough economic climate, Paul was able to secure substantial funding through his local bank (AIB) which was eager to support the concept.

“The Maui Wowi brand was strong enough to convince them, particularly the fact that this is a global brand operating in seven other international jurisdictions, which says a lot about its ‘proof of concept’ and transferability, which were key factors in the decision making process,” said Hickey. “You cannot get financing here, but we did.”

Hickey, who has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality and catering industry in both Ireland and the USA, plans to open between 25 and 30 units within the next 18 to 36 months and create more than 180 jobs.

Since 1982, Maui Wowi Hawaiian has been spreading the ‘Aloha Spirit’ across the world with its premium Hawaiian coffees, all-natural fresh fruit smoothies and authentic Hawaiian products. From event carts, mall kiosks and stand-alone retail locations, Maui Wowi Hawaiian operates 575 locations worldwide.
