“Cashflow is the key to Cartridge Green success"
With many years experience in business already, franchise owner Owen Silke was so impressed with the Cartridge Green franchise, he decided to invest in the Limerick opportunity
Cartridge Green’s latest franchise owner Owen Silke was looking for an innovative, scalable business opportunity, having run multiple successful businesses in Limerick over the last 20 years including a stationery and arts supplies business.
“We constantly had customers asking us if we could refill their printer cartridges and even though there were already two refill stores in the city, people seemed totally unaware they existed. This highlighted that there was a big market for the service and secondly that there was no decent competition.
"When I carried out some research into the industry, Cartridge Green was the only name that kept popping up, so I decided I had to talk them and I literally signed up a few months later. The figures were very attractive, especially the cashflow estimates, which, to date, have been spot on.”
Owen explained that it was the consistency of the branding and emphasis on quality and service that convinced him to invest in a Cartridge Green franchise.
“Customers like coming to the store because it’s bright and professional looking like a proper brand should be,” he adds. Owen went through an intensive five-week training programme focusing on all aspects of running a Cartridge Green franchise, including Club Cartridge Green and Pay Per Page.
“I look after all our business customers and we are being very well received,” says Owen. “After hearing about the savings and service we can offer them, they just can’t ignore us.
“Once they try the product and see just how good it is they just continue to place orders with us over again.
“When I introduce our Pay Per Page service they are blown away because it effectively takes all the hassle away of ordering cartridges. They only get one invoice a month for what they have printed in the previous month and they just love that.”
Having successfully launched his Cartridge Green business, Owen is looking ahead to a profitable future.
“Our offering is continuously evolving to meet what customers want, which is very reassuring, and it’s all down to the efforts of the franchisor,” he says.
“We are very excited about the business and despite the current economic doom and gloom, actually looking forward to 2011 and beyond. The way things are going it won’t be long before I start looking at additional locations.”
